Métis Early Learning Virtual Programming

This year, the MNO is pleased to offer six (6) Métis Early Learning Virtual Programs, which are online events for Métis children between the ages of zero (0) and twelve (12) years and their families. Two (2) socials will be geared towards children between the ages of zero (0) to four (4), and two (2) socials will be geared towards children between the ages of zero (0) to twelve (12). Two (2) virtual camps will be geared toward children between the ages of four (4) and twelve (12). The Métis Early Learning Virtual Programs will focus on different themes as the children engage in hands-on, play-based, cultural activities in a safe and enriching virtual environment. Métis Early Learning Family Socials take place on Saturday mornings throughout the year from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time). Métis Early Learning Virtual March Break Camp 2024

The Early Learning and Child Care Team is excited to offer a March Break Camp over March Break, from March 12-14, 2024. The Métis Early Learning Winter Virtual Camp is open to Métis early learners between four (4) and twelve (12) years old. The camp will provide participants with a foundational knowledge of preparing for the new year of growth, all while focusing on traditional knowledge and way of life.
Children will engage in play-based, hands-on learning, have an opportunity to experience some Métis traditions and connect to our ancestors. This camp will follow a structure that has both guided and self-guided features. Registered families will attend multiple virtual sessions to meet their peers, ask questions, and be engaged in meaningful learning discussions. Sessions will run for one (1) hour with an optional extra 30 minutes for activities from 10:00-11:30am for children 4-12 years old.
Extended learning opportunities will be available for participants for an additional thirty (30) minutes after each session. Families applying for the March Break Virtual Camp must attend all three sessions.

In Person Métis Early Learning Winter Camp

The Métis Nation of Ontario’s Early Learning Child Care Team would like to invite Métis families to our Winter In-Person Camp that will be held February 8th to 11th, 2024, at the Canadian Ecology Centre in Mattawa, ON. The Early Learning Winter Camp is designed to provide Métis early learners between the ages of three and twelve, their siblings, parents/legal guardians, and grandparent(s) an opportunity to learn more about Métis culture and way of life from an early learning perspective.

At this in-person camp, Métis families engage in workshops that demonstrate respect for the land, teach early learners about their Métis culture and way of life, and connect with other Métis families from across Ontario. Parents will also have the opportunity to learn more about the programs and services offered through the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Early Learning Child Care program.
