New Relationship Fund
The New Relationship Fund was created in 2008 to build core capacity at the community level for Métis and First Nations to facilitate consultations relating to lands and resources. The funding the MNO received in 2008 – 2009 laid the foundation for long term capacity building within the MNO because it lead to the creation of the Lands, Resources and Consultations Branch. This will enable the MNO to support Community Councils and Regional Consultation Protocol units in dealing with ongoing requests for consultation.
The MNO-Canada-Ontario Tripartite Process is focused on identifying economic development opportunities for the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) and its communities. The MNO Economic Development Plan guides the work being done in this area as does the MNO’s Economic Development Officer.
