MNO Métis Child, Youth & Family Services Project

Introductory Town Halls:
January 18 and 19, 2022 at 6:30 PM (ET)

The Métis Nation of Ontario is happy to announce that Series 2 of Phase II – the Design Phase of engagement, for the Métis Child, Youth & Family Services Project will commence virtually in mid-January with an introductory Town Hall on January 18th and 19th at 6:30 pm (citizens are encouraged to attend one of the two Town Halls).  The Town Hall will include a project overview and an introduction about the upcoming Design Phase.

*The content is the same as the Town Hall and sessions (Series 1) that were held from October – December 2021, so if you did NOT attend those, please do attend this time.

In the Design Phase, citizens will be encouraged to engage and discuss the types of programs, supports and / or services they feel are necessary to prevent interactions with the child welfare system and keep Métis families together. This is also an opportunity for citizens to identify how they want to see Métis child, youth and family services delivered and to identify ways to improve current processes for those who are or do become involved with the child welfare system

To begin the dialogue for the Phase II sessions, the project team have identified options and opportunities informed by the Phase I engagement sessions. Materials will be shared with you in advance of these sessions and after you have RSVP’d to participate in Phase II.

*Please note: these sessions are specific to Regions 2-9 as the Northwestern Ontario Métis Community (Region 1) has completed engagement on the creation of a regional Child & Family Services Agency. Region 1 is taking a phased approach; beginning with a focus on Prevention work with children and families which may be followed by the development of Protection services. For more information, contact Region 1 Councillor Theresa Stenlund.

Please note: If you sign up for series 1, you would attend three sessions in total – one Town Hall and two engagement sessions in your region as each will cover different topic areas.
