The Housing and Infrastructure Branch of the Métis Nation of Ontario is dedicated to addressing the housing needs of Métis individuals and communities throughout the province. Recognizing housing as fundamental to the well-being and prosperity of Métis citizens, the branch operates under the mandate to expand housing options across the entire housing continuum, from homelessness to homeownership. This initiative is aligned with the MNO’s Statement of Prime Purpose, specifically to enhance prosperity and economic self-sufficiency within the Métis Nation.
The Housing and Infrastructure Branch offers a range of services aimed at improving the housing stability and quality of life for Métis citizens. The Branch provides essential resources to those facing homelessness or housing instability, offers emergency repair programs to ensure safe living conditions, and supports first-time homebuyers with workshops and financial assistance. The Branch also makes strategic investments in housing developments across various regions, a financial literacy program, as well as an Outreach Program dedicated to serving youth at-risk or experiencing homelessness in Thunder Bay. The H&I Branch also excels in the area of housing & homelessness data and research as it relates to Ontario Métis, which informs program adaptations and innovations to meet the needs of Ontario’s Métis communities. These programs and initiatives underscore our dedication to addressing housing challenges and promoting prosperity within Métis communities across the province, ensuring all Métis have a place to call home.
