MNO Solar Panel Program returning for 2026

The Métis Nation of Ontario’s Solar Panel Program is returning for 2026, with applications opening May 11 at noon.
The program helps eligible MNO citizens reduce household hydro costs and environmental impacts by supporting the installation of rooftop solar systems on their homes.

Through the MNO-SPP, eligible citizens may receive a one-time forgivable loan to support the installation of a rooftop solar system. Earn full loan forgiveness by maintaining ownership as their primary residence for two years following project completion.

The program reflects the MNO’s ongoing commitment to sustainable, community-driven solutions that benefit Métis citizens and help protect the environment for future generations.

Applicants are encouraged to determine whether solar energy is a good fit for their residence before applying. Solar panels require adequate sunlight exposure to operate effectively and may require ongoing maintenance over time.
