The Métis Nation of Ontario is inviting citizens of all ages and backgrounds to help shape two important initiatives: Métis Ethical Research Framework and Métis Data Governance Protocols.
Your feedback will help guide the development of best practices for Métis research and support the responsible collection, use, protection, and stewardship of Métis data. Input from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, youth, graduate students, and citizens across the province is essential to ensuring these frameworks reflect the diverse experiences and priorities of Métis communities.
Métis Ethical Research Framework Survey
This survey seeks input for a study by the MNO on ethical Métis research. In this context, we are developing guidelines to clarify best practices, protocols, and procedures for both researchers who wish to interact with and study Métis individuals and communities, as well as for Métis individuals/communities who wish to engage in a research project.
Métis Data Governance Protocols Survey
This survey seeks input on Métis Data Governance, which refers to the responsibilities and oversight for data specific to citizens and communities. In this context, we are developing guidelines to clarify best practices, protocols, and procedures for collecting Métis data through research, and to inform how data collected should be accessed, used, stored, shared, protected, interpreted, and stewarded.
Together, we can help ensure Métis research and data practices are guided by Métis values, perspectives, and self-determination.
Surveys close September 15, 2026.
