The Métis Nation of Ontario’s Annual General Assembly (“AGA”) is Métis self-government in action. Every year, MNO leadership and citizens from Métis communities across Ontario gather to make their voices heard, review the past year’s successes, and set a course for the coming year.
As our communities across Northern Ontario continue to face the devastating impact of wildfires, we have learned that our hotel reservations in Thunder Bay for the AGA could force evacuees, already displaced from their homes, to leave the city and be separated from their families. In order to avoid this and keep loved ones together, the PCMNO passed an emergency resolution to relocate the 2026 AGA to the Greater Toronto Area.

All Métis citizens are encouraged to participate in our Annual General Assembly. As always, the event will kick off on Thursday night with the celebratory canoe arrival and President’s welcome with official business being conducted throughout the weekend. This year’s assembly will be with filled lots of exciting activities for citizens of all ages including Camp AGA, the Kooshkopayiw Métis Art Council Exhibit, vendor fairs, a gala dinner and more!

The Métis Nation of Ontario’s Early Learning and Child Care Team proudly offers a day camp at the 2026 Annual General Assembly. Child care is provided to children ages 0-12 for family members attending the AGA in an MNO Citizen, MNO Delegate, or MNO Staff capacity. Camp AGA is a day camp available during the day for the duration of the AGA.
Note: After completing your registration for the AGA, you will receive a link to register your children for Camp AGA.

This year, the 10th Annual Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) will be held in person on Tuesday, August 11th and Wednesday, August 12th at the Delta Hotels Toronto Airport & Conference Centre in Toronto. Youth will also have the opportunity to expand their leadership experience by staying for the Métis Nation of Ontario Annual General Assembly (AGA), taking place from August 13th to 16th.
Registration is now closed. Applicants will be contacted by the YLC Admin Team regarding the status of their application by end of June 2026. Space is limited.

Where will the AGA and YLC now take place?

The majority of meetings, programming, registration, exhibits, and event activities will take place at this location.
How do I modify my registration?
There are two ways to modify your registration information:
- Visit the AGA registration site at https://metisnation.swoogo.com/AGA2026, enter your registration email on the first page, and then enter the password you created when you registered.
- Select the “Modify Registration” button included in your registration confirmation email.
If you need to cancel your registration, please email aga@metisnation.org.
Are hotel accommodations available in Toronto?
The MNO has confirmed that guest room availability exists at hotels near the Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto Airport & Conference Centre. At this time, we have not secured a preferred group rate. We recommend that attendees arrange and book their own accommodation directly with their hotel of choice.
Will I receive updated travel information?
Yes.
All registered attendees will receive a “Know Before You Go” email:
- The week before the AGA; and
- Again 24 hours before the event.

- What to bring
- Important event updates
Has the event agenda changed?
The overall agenda and programming remain substantially the same as originally planned for Thunder Bay.
Most meetings, governance sessions, Youth Leadership Conference programming, cultural activities, and events will proceed as scheduled.
What events have changed?
There are two program changes:
- The We Aspire Golf Tournament, scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, has been cancelled.
- The Canoe Landing Ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, August 13, will no longer take place.
Will there still be a President’s Welcome?
Yes.
In place of the Canoe Landing Ceremony, attendees are invited to a President’s Welcome on Thursday evening featuring entertainment and an opportunity to gather and celebrate together.
Is the Saturday Gala still happening?
Yes.
The Saturday evening Gala will proceed as planned for registered citizens and guests.The evening will include:
- Post-Secondary Student Awards
- Volunteer of the Year Award
- AGA Host Community Handoff Ceremony
- Evening entertainment
Is the Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) still taking place?
Yes.
The Youth Leadership Conference will continue as planned in the GTA and will follow the same agenda and programming originally scheduled for Thunder Bay.

Is Camp AGA still running?
Yes.
Childcare services will be available at Camp AGA on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 AM until the conclusion of AGA business hours for attendees with children ages 0-12. This will be a free service led by the MNO Early Learning and Child Care team. Registration for Camp AGA is required. Children will be split into three groupings 0-2, 3-6, 7-12, and engage in developmentally appropriate programming through the duration of the event.
I wasn’t registered for the AGA in Thunder Bay. Can I still register to attend AGA 2026?
Yes.
Registration for the AGA is open to all citizens. If you are now able to attend AGA 2026, we encourage you to register in advance by visiting https://metisnation.swoogo.com/AGA2026.
Onsite registration will also be available at the event.

Registration procedures remain the same.
