About the Award
The Youth Leadership Award celebrates Métis youth across Ontario who dedicate their time, energy, and passion to advancing and uplifting Métis communities. It honours MNO youth citizens aged 16–29 who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer leadership. The award recognizes their strength, resilience, and commitment to reaching their full potential. The recipient will be honoured at the annual Youth Leadership Conference. Applications close July 25, 2025.
 
Objective
This award recognizes youth who volunteer year-round to support the MNO and their communities. A subcommittee of MNOYC members and community council youth reps will review nominations and select the recipient.
 
Process
Anyone (parent, mentor, community council, community member, etc.) can nominate a youth by completing the nomination form. Self-nominations are not accepted. Form link: Nomination Form.
 
Criteria
  • Must be 16–29 years old at the time of application.
  • Must be a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario.
  • Must have shown commitment through volunteer work to advancing Métis culture, language, education, and/or rights in Ontario.
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership, supports others’ well-being, and fosters a positive, respectful environment.
