The Temiskaming Métis Community Council is pleased to share that one of their own Métis citizens, Darlene Bowen, was recognized with the King Charles lll Coronation Medal on March 29th.

The presentation was delivered by local MPP John Vanthof, who praised Darlene for her dedication and compassion. He noted that Darlene not only leads—she steps up to help whenever and however she can.

Her list of accomplishments range from chairing organizations like the New Liskeard Agricultural Society, Northdale Manor, Harris Township’s 100th Anniversary Committee, and the Ontario Cattlemen’s Association to serving on non-profit boards from the local to national level. She was also an integral coordinator with the 2009 International Plowing Match, was president of the New Liskeard Fall Fair, and now serves as president of Keepers of the Circle.

Darlene is very talented in beading and is active in many other cultural activities. The Temiskaming Métis Community Council is grateful for her help at many of our events, and we want to congratulate Darlene on all her accomplishments and on receiving this well-deserved recognition.
