George Brown College – Congress Success Story

On June 3rd, MNO citizens and Post-Secondary Education staff members Kelsey Piché and Dr. Dan McFadden presented at the annual Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario.

Speaking to educators and researchers, Kelsey and Dan insightfully advocated for the need to move beyond pan-Indigenous approaches to Indigenous research and informed attendees about Métis-specific research methods and how they relate to Métis culture. Kelsey and Dan were also joined by fellow staff member and citizen Morgan Turcotte to lead a finger weaving workshop for the attendees.

This year’s annual Congress provided a collaborative space for researchers, students, educators, policymakers, and the public to reframe togetherness and what it means to coexist with other humans, the environment, and technology.

Congratulations once again to Kelsey, Dan, and Morgan on this insightful presentation and for increasing awareness of Métis-specific methodologies!
