Honouring the Life of Cameron Burgess
Remembering a Dedicated Métis Leader and Community Member
The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is deeply saddened by the passing of Cameron Burgess, a proud Métis citizen and former Regional Councillor for Region 2. Cam passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025.
Cam served the Métis Nation with dedication, warmth, and heart. Throughout his time on Council and through his many contributions to MNO boards and initiatives, he was known for his steady leadership, compassionate spirit, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of his community.
Beyond his public service, Cam will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him — his sense of humour, love of nature, passion for curling, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. He was a devoted husband, a proud family man, and a cherished friend to many.
The MNO extends its deepest condolences to Cam’s wife Bev, his family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, leadership, and community spirit will not be forgotten.
