Kindergarten: Full Steam Ahead
Join Our Upcoming Métis Early Learning Workshop

The Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) team at the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is pleased to invite families to our next virtual family workshop: “Kindergarten: Full Steam Ahead.” This session will take place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and is open to families with children preparing to enter, or who have recently started, full-day kindergarten.

Presented by Kayla Carrigan and Kait Maurice, Developmental Resource Consultants with the ELCC team, this online workshop is designed to support Métis families through the transition into kindergarten. For many, this moment marks the beginning of their child’s educational journey and a new chapter filled with growth, discovery, and opportunity—and we’re here to help you make the most of it.

What You’ll Learn
Kindergarten is a significant milestone, and “Full Steam Ahead” aims to give parents, guardians, and grandparents the tools they need to guide their children into this new environment with confidence. The workshop will explore:
  • An overview of the kindergarten curriculum and learning goals
  • How to create effective home routines that support school readiness
  • Strategies to nurture your child’s social and emotional development
  • Practical ways to build literacy and numeracy skills at home
  • Answers to common questions and concerns from parents and caregivers
Whether you are navigating this process for the first time or seeking additional strategies to support your child, this workshop is designed with you in mind.
