Métis Babysitter’s Club: Skills & Certification for Grades 7–10 (Fall Session)

Métis youth in grades 7 to 10 interested in obtaining babysitting knowledge and skill are invited to apply to the Métis Babysitter’s Club program. This program will provide youth with essential skills and foundational knowledge for quality home-based child care.

Led by Registered Early Childhood Educators from the MNO Early Learning and Child Care team, participants will learn about child development, cultural activities, and safe online advertising. Upon completion of this program, youth will also receive a Babysitter’s Club Certificate and Babysitter’s Club Kit.

This program will be a blend of virtual sessions and self-directed learning modules, starting with a welcoming virtual orientation session. Participants can also expect a mid-course follow-up First Aid and CPR session. All program costs are covered by the MNO.

To be eligible for the Family Workshops, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • One parent or youth must be a Métis Nation of Ontario Citizen eligible for direct benefits and must reside in Ontario
  • Participants must be entering or in grades 7, 8, 9 or 10 at the time of the course.
  • Ability to access the internet, a device to connect to Zoom and be willing to participate in a digital environment.
  • Interested in learning about Métis history and culture from an early learning perspective.
