Winter Family Camp

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) invites Métis families to join the upcoming Early Learning Winter Family Culture Camp, taking place January 29–February 1, 2026, at the Canadian Ecology Centre.

The Winter Family Culture Camp offers a unique opportunity for Métis early learners aged 3 to 12, along with parents, guardians, siblings, and grandparents, to immerse themselves in Métis culture and traditions.

What to Expect

This in-person camp invites families to explore Métis culture and way of life together through early learning activities. From nature-based experiences to interactive workshops and hands-on projects, children and caregivers will connect with traditions while fostering pride in Métis identity. Parents and guardians will also be introduced to the MNO Early Learning and Child Care program and the many supports it offers to Métis families.

Accommodations and Travel Information

The MNO is pleased to offer accommodations, meals, and travel for selected families. Each family will have their own private cabin, which can accommodate between 3-6 people. Cabins are furnished with two double beds and one single top bunk or three single bunk beds. Families with young children are encouraged to bring playpens for infants or toddlers.

Eligibility Requirements

To attend the Métis Early Learning Winter Family Culture Camp, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • At least one parent/guardian, grandparent, or child must be a verified Métis Nation of Ontario citizen eligible for direct benefits.
  • Families must include at least one child or grandchild between the ages of 3 and 12.
  • Grandparents attending with grandchildren must provide written consent from the child’s parent or guardian.
  • Two adults are required to attend for the full duration of camp, and must actively participate in activities (maximum two adults per family).
  • Participants must be willing to engage in both indoor and outdoor learning experiences focused on Métis history and culture.

How to Apply

Space for this camp is limited. Applications will be accepted until October 24 at 8:00a.m. EST. Applicants will be notified via email the week of November 3, 2025 of their acceptance to camp or if they have been placed on the waitlist. Preference will be given to families who have not attended a past in-person camp.
