MNO Encourages Citizens to get Vaccinated this Cold and Flu Season
Respiratory virus season is here, and many communities across Ontario are seeing an increase in illnesses. The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is encouraging citizens to take simple, effective steps to stay well this fall and winter.
Keeping healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. Staying home when unwell, washing hands often, cleaning high-touch surfaces, and improving airflow by opening windows can all help reduce the spread of influenza, COVID-19, and RSV.
“Protecting one another is part of who we are as a community,” says Sharon Cadeau, MNO Provincial Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Seniors. “By taking care of ourselves, we help protect everyone around us, especially Elders, children, and those who are more vulnerable.”
The MNO’s MetisVacciNation initiative highlights the importance of staying up to date on vaccinations. Vaccines for flu, COVID-19, and RSV are available and can be safely co-administered during the fall respiratory season. They are free and accessible through local health providers or public health clinics.
Métis citizens are encouraged to speak with their health provider about getting vaccinated this season.
