A huge congratulations to Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Region 1 Citizen Tom Doherty on receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal!
 
This honour, presented by Kenora MPP Eric Melillo on February 22, 2025, recognizes Tom’s incredible four decades of dedication to education and his community. A beloved educator with the Kenora Catholic District School Board, Tom has spent more than 40 years inspiring and mentoring students in Northwestern Ontario.
 
“I am truly honoured to receive such a prestigious award for doing what I love to do for the past 40+ years living in this great region of Canada,” says Tom.
 
The King Charles III Coronation Medal was created to celebrate the Coronation and is awarded to individuals who have made a meaningful impact in their community, province, or territory. Tom’s passion for education represents the MNO’s Statement of Prime Purpose, specifically our goal to promote and foster community development.
 
The MNO is beyond proud of Tom’s achievements, celebrating his lifelong commitment to youth and education. Tom’s passion for teaching and community service has had a lasting impact in Red Lake and beyond. The MNO is proud to see his dedication recognized at such a high level.
 
Tom now joins a distinguished group of Canadians who have received the King Charles III Coronation Medal for their outstanding contributions. Congratulations, Tom—your dedication and hard work have truly made a difference!
