It has come to our attention that a citizen has falsely claimed to be the Commissioner of Ethics and Integrity for the MNO. We wish to clarify that, to date, the MNO has not retained or designated any individual to serve as Commissioner, nor has anyone been authorized to implement the Code of Conduct on behalf of the MNO.

If you encounter anyone impersonating a Commissioner of Ethics and Integrity—or claiming to represent an MNO officer without authorization—please notify the MNO immediately at metisnation.org/contact-us.

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) adopted a Code of Conduct at the August 2024 Annual General Assembly as part of our governance and self-government work. The Code sets behaviour standards for all MNO Citizens—including elected leaders and officials—and establishes the MNO Office of Ethics and Integrity, to be led by a Commissioner of Ethics and Integrity with sufficient independence to investigate issues and oversee the Code’s conflict-resolution process.

MNO Citizens will be kept informed as the implementation of the Code proceeds.
