Workshop Series: Métis Early Learning Engagement Sessions—Autism Allies

The Early Learning and Child Care team invites you register for the Autism Allies workshop series, a 10-week program designed to provide parents with practical tools and strategies to support children with autism. Through weekly discussions, activities, and support, parents will develop a deeper understanding of autism and feel empowered to create positive, meaningful changes for their children and family.

Focusing on a new topic each week, these sessions offer evidence-based insights into how families can better navigate daily challenges. The weekly breakdown of topics include:

Week 1: Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

 Communication Strategies for Non-Verbal Children
Week 3: 
Social Skills Development 
Week 4: 
Sensory Processing and Regulation
Week 5: 
Establishing Routines and Structure
Week 6: 
Behavioural Strategies and Positive Reinforcement

 Self-Advocacy and Independence Skills
Week 8: 
Emotional Regulation and Coping Strategies
Week 9:
 Supporting Siblings of Children with Autism
Week 10:
 Advocating for Your Child in Educational Settings
