With great sorrow, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) mourns the passing of MNO citizen and former employee Colette Risewick on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Matheson, Ontario. She was 69 years old.

Colette started working at the MNO Timmins Métis Council office on October 1, 1997, and later joined the MNO’s Education and Training branch at its Timmins office.

“She was a valued contributor admired for her counselling skills, strength of spirit and kind demeanour,” Jennifer St. Germain, Director of Education and Training, shared.

“Colette maintained a deep, spiritual connection and was the fire keeper at several AGAs, spending hours and days tending and feeding the fire,” Jennifer added.

Colette is survived by her children, Lisa Risewick (Wain Matthews) and Brian Risewick (Sandy Westenberg); her grand-children, Christopher, Calen, Nicholas, Hunter, Merissa, Leanne and Kate; her great-grand-child, Benjamin; her siblings Alice Lacroix (Gerry), Monique Gagne (Donald), Richard Aubin (Linda), Lise Arsenault (Paul) and Vivianne Regimbal (Daniel); and her mother, Irene Aubin.

She will be deeply missed.
