The Métis Nation of Ontario is holding an Été: Métis Summer Culture Camp/Canoe Journey on July 29 – Aug.4, 2018 on the waters of Lake Huron.
The summer camp will be approximately 7 days in duration, will be water and land based and will take the youth on a canoe journey that retraces the fur trade routes of their ancestors. Programming will be in sync with the summer season and will engage Métis youth in learning Métis culture and way of life. The age group targeted is the same as the previous Métis Youth Cultural Camps (youth in Grades 10, 11, 12).
The summer cultural camp/ canoe journey will include aspects of Métis history, way of life and culture and will include engaging outdoor activities. This is particularly important as many Métis youth seek to connect with their Métis culture and heritage. The cultural summer camp/ canoe journey will engage youth through interactions with Métis knowledge holders, MNO staff and facilitators in events/activities that will span the duration of the camp.
