Gary Lipinski, the immediate past President of the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) extended his congratulations and best wishes to his successor Margaret Froh, shortly after her election as the new MNO President on May 11. Mr. Lipinski stated: “In choosing Margaret, MNO citizens have elected an individual with exceptional qualities and qualifications to lead the MNO. I have every confidence that she will build on the work of the past and make the Métis Nation even stronger.”
“I also want to congratulate the other elected and acclaimed candidates,” Mr. Lipinski said. “Margaret will head up a strong team of leaders who will advance the work of the MNO tremendously in the next four years.”
Mr. Lipinski also commented: “It was gratifying to see the largest voter turnout in MNO history in the recent election. I think this turnout speaks volumes to the work of the outgoing Provisional Council of the Métis Nation of Ontario (PCMNO) leadership as well as the hard work and ambitious campaigns of all the candidates and their supporters in this election.”
“I also think the Chief Electoral Officer Paul Devillers and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer John Graham deserve recognition for their efforts as well as all the local returning officers. Elections require hours and hours of attention to meticulous details and are no small tasks,” he added.
It is expected that President Froh and Mr. Lipinski will be sitting down shortly to go over key files and assure a smooth transition. “It is an exciting time for the Métis Nation,” stated Mr. Lipinski. “There are many opportunities coming quickly over the horizon and it is important the MNO is in a position to capitalize on them and build a better future for all MNO citizens.”
