It is with great sadness that I report the loss of one of the great champions of Métis rights in the province of Ontario. Guy Lefebvre passed away January 20 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Guy served as Region Three PCMNO councillor from 1998 to 2008. He was deeply passionate about advancing Métis rights and attended the founding meeting of the Métis Nation of Ontario in 1993. He contributed immensely to the building of the MNO by serving in many capacities at the community and provincial level.
As a young man, Guy worked in the lumber industry before going on to become a mechanic. Guy is survived by his sons Jean-Paul and Michel, his daughters Lise and Susane and by his many grand children, great-grand children, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
