HARVESTING FOR POWLEY DAY: Métis Early Learning Family Social

Saturday September 25, 2021

On Powley Day, we celebrate Steve, Roddy and the entire Powley family who stood up to secure our rights and whose actions forever changed the world for Métis in Canada. Because our Métis identity is intrinsically linked to our relationship to the land, it is important that Métis young people learn and benefit from the knowledge of our ancestors and the MNO’s historic journey.

At the next MNO Early Learning Family Social, on September 25, Métis families will be painting their own mini-wooden paddles, while learning about the importance of Métis Harvesting and the landmark Powley decision.

We hope to see you and your families there!

About the Early Learning Family Socials

The MNO Early Learning Family Socials are online events for Métis children from age zero (0) to twelve (12) years and their families. Each MNO Early Learning Family Social focuses on a different theme as the children engage in hands-on, play-based, cultural activities in a safe and enriching environment. Métis Early Learning Family Socials take place once a month on Saturday, with three (3) time slots per Social to choose from (all times are Eastern Standard): 10 AM to Noon, 1 to 3 PM, and 4 to 6 PM. Families can register for one (1) time slot per Social.
