Lake Superior & Lake Huron Fish Monitoring Project
Calling Métis fishers on Lake Superior and Lake Huron!
The MNO’s Environment and Climate Change team is looking for Métis fishers to help with research into methylmercury levels in fish from Lakes Superior and Huron.
Methylmercury can accumulate in fish, making it important to understand its presence in waterways that Métis communities rely on for harvesting.
Métis citizens who participate by providing fish tissue samples will receive an honorarium.
The project, funded by the Canada Water Agency, will help improve our understanding of methylmercury in aquatic ecosystems and contribute to research that supports Métis harvesting practices and ways of life.
