The Métis Nation of Ontario needs your talent and creativity to develop a logo for the our Environment and Climate Change team’s monitoring programs!
Who are we?
The Environment and Climate Change team works under the MNO Lands, Resources and Consultations branch. The team coordinates all environmental program development, including programming to bring awareness and respond to climate change and its effects on Métis communities across the province. This work focuses on local knowledge held by our communities to ensure the voices of Métis help guide the development of MNO environment and climate change policy and programs.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a visual mock-up of your concept(s) for a logo of our monitoring programs, along with a brief explanation of your concept. You can include other material that may help the team make their decision such as previous work you have done. Our monitoring programs include the following:
• Water monitoring: Water quality data is collected across the province by trained Métis Guardians.
• Bee monitoring: Métis households host bee hotels and monitor their use, as well as bee or plant phenology data as it relates to climate change.
• Fish monitoring: Métis harvesters on the land will report information on fish they catch to monitor long-term changes.
Please include an estimated timeframe production of a final version. Once a concept has been selected, the creator will be notified of the specific details for a finished product and the timeline for completion.
Who can apply?
The contest is open to MNO citizens. Please include your MNO citizenship number with your entry.
What could you win?
All those who submit a concept will be entered in a draw for one of five $100 gift cards to Curry’s Art Store. The artist behind the chosen concept(s) will be awarded $2000 to create the final product.
Deadline:
Please submit your concepts to watermonitor@metisnation.org by noon on November 8, 2023.
