Currently there is very little information regarding Métis people in Ontario, which can prove to be challenging when we are speaking with different funders and making our case of why we need programs or speaking to what Métis people and families in Ontario are dealing with.

To address this issue, the Central East Local Health Integrated Health Network and the South East Local Health Integrated Health Network (LHIN) recently approached the MNO Healing and Wellness Branch and offered to provide funding for a Health Needs Assessment of Métis people in Ontario. An offer we were very pleased to take up.

This is a household survey and is being offered in English and French. We need your participation in order for it to give us the big picture of what is happening in our communities. Our goal is to have a minimum of 1500 Métis household participate in this Health Needs Assessment. Please share this e-mail with any Métis people you know through your various networks. A draw is taking place when the survey is closed in the fall for some great prizes, which are indicated on the attached posters. If you wish to participate in the draw you can provide your contact information at the end. Your contact information, however, will not be part of the survey.

Thank you for your participation and if you have any questions please feel free to email Natalie Lloyd at or call at 1-800-263-4889.

Once the data is collected and analysis, we will be providing a report on the overall survey as it is important to us that we do not only ask for your participation but also give you feedback on the results.
