celebration.
Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) citizen Gabe Picard was one of seven men recently honoured during the National Aboriginal Day powwow held in Thunder Bay.
Picard received the “Honouring our Men” Award from the MNO Thunder Bay Métis Council. The award was created to acknowledge and recognize the important contributions Aboriginal men make within the community of Thunder Bay.
A recent graduate from Confederation College’s Social Service Worker program, Picard is also Treasurer for the MNO Thunder Bay Métis Council. He plays a very active role in the community as President of the Oshki Anishinabek Student Association and an Infinite Reach Facilitator.
Picard recently began working at Dilico Anishinabek Family Care. He plans to work with Aboriginal children and ensure they are cared for in a loving and culturally appropriate environment.
