At this year’s Ontario Museums Association Annual Conference in Niagara Falls, Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Niagara Region Métis Council President Stephen Quesnelle was part of a presentation highlighting the successful partnership between the MNO Niagara Region Métis Council and the Welland Historical Museum. According to Pierre Bois, the Special Projects Manager for the Museum Association, the presentation entitled “Positive Partnerships: A Win/Win Situation” was “a favourite among delegates.”

President Quesnelle explained how the Welland Museum and his Council had cooperated to develop a high quality display on Métis history that is now part of the Museum. “The display in the Museum is enabling us to educate those who come into the Museum,” explained President Quesnelle, “to see and learn about the forgotten part of Canada’s history and exploration.” He added “The more we share, the more is understood. That is why it is so important that the museums in Ontario open their doors to the Métis, so, that a complete history of Canada’s exploration and development can be told.”
