On February 14, Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Thunder Bay Métis Council President Bryanna Scott took part in Thunder Bay’s Eighth Annual Valentine’s Day Memorial Walk for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

The annual walk brings together families of missing and murdered Indigenous women to acknowledge their loss and offer support for their grief. It also intends to educate the public about this national issue.

Participants gathered at the starting point in City Hall, where words from local community members were shared. Following the meeting, people walked along May Street from City Hall, all the way to the Heritage Building.

At the end of the walk, a ceremony was performed to honour the families who have lost their loved ones, followed by a potluck feast.
