MNO launches new Driver Education funding program
Reliable transportation is a significant element in securing and maintaining employment—especially for Métis citizens residing in rural, remote, or underserved areas. To address these challenges, the MNO is announcing its Driver’s Licence/Education Funding Pilot Program, removing barriers to employment by investing in driver education.
The program reimburses verified MNO citizens for eligible driver’s licence expenses, including testing and education fees. Available first come, first served until March 29, 2025, or until budget is committed.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility: Must be a verified MNO citizen, ages 15.5+, Ontario resident, with a valid SIN.
- Career Focus: Must show how a driver’s licence improves job prospects.
- Timing: Reimbursements apply to tests/courses taken after April 1, 2024 with valid receipts.
- Personal Participation: The applicant must be the individual taking the driver’s test or education course and should have an active bank account for reimbursement purposes.
- Ontario-Based: Expenses must be for Ontario driver education or licence fees.
