MNO Launches Urban Portage Walking Challenge
September 1 – November 30, 2024

Lace up, Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) citizens! The Urban Portage Challenge (UPC) is officially off to the races!

In August, we invited MNO communities and Champions to participate in a 3-month walking competition to see whose community can go the distance and collectively walk the most steps. This fall, a new Urban Portage Walking Challenge will run between September 1 and November 30, 2024.

Missed registration? It’s not too late to step up and get involved! Join others in your community by reaching out to a Champion at your local MNO office or by calling OneMNO at 1-800-263-4889 Ext 7.

To track your steps, you can use a Fitbit, pedometer, smartphone apps, or the health section on your smartphone. We trust everyone to report their step counts honestly. Don’t forget to share your walking adventures with us using #MNOSteps and send pictures of your travels!

Need a bit of extra motivation? The top three communities with the highest step counts will receive funding to host a celebration. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the competition!
