Museum Display Highlights Métis Involvement in the War of 1812 Barbaranne Wright with the display of Métis involved in War of 1812

Although Métis played important roles during the War of 1812, history has not yet given a full account of the Métis contribution. To help correct this shortcoming, Barbaranne Wright, the Women’s Representative on the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Niagara Region Métis Council, designed a display for the Niagara Historical Museum that lists the names of Métis who participated in the War. Barbaranne drew from sources published by the National Archives of Canada and the Louis Riel Institute (in Manitoba) to research the names.
