Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Citizens from the Georgian Bay community should keep their eyes peeled for an exciting roll out featuring everyone’s favourite starch, potatoes!
The MNO Georgian Bay Métis Council (GBMC), in partnership with MNO Citizen Cim Maurice and Fer-Mar Farms, will be distributing 1500 ten-pound bags of potatoes to the community over the coming months. These nutritious and versatile pantry staples serve as a welcome addition to anyone’s kitchen and will be available until the supply is exhausted.
“This initiative will be on-going until all 1500 bags are gone, or until the spring-summer as we are able,” shared Greg Garratt GBMC President. “It is open to all of GBMC Citizens and we hope they take advantage of this service.”
Interested Citizens can call and arrange a pick-up at 22 Peel Street in Penetanguishene between the Noon and 5pm, including weekends. Door side pick up is also available for safety measures.
To schedule a pick up, Citizens can call 705-549-2255 between the hours of 12PM and 5PM.
Additionally, MNO Programs delivering food hampers to the community are eligible to request multiple bags. For additional inquiries please call the number listed above.
During this time, all necessary Covid-19 precautions are to be followed to ensure the safety of all.
To date, nearly 20,000 pounds of potatoes have been donated and distributed to the community. The MNO GBMC thanks Cim Maurice, Fer-Mar Farms, Heather Garratt and the Council members for their efforts in coordinating this nutritious initiative!
