The MNO Chief Electoral Officer, in consultation with the MNO Youth Council, has established an electronic voting (E-Voting) pilot project for filling the four current vacancies on the MNO Youth Council at the 2016 AGA in North Bay. We are pleased to announce the launch of this pilot project in E-voting for the purposes of the MNO Youth Council election.

Elections are being held for the vacancies of Regional Youth Representatives in MNO Regions 4, 5, 8 and 9. Elections to fill vacancies in the MNO Youth Council will be completed on August 26, 2016.

Eligible youth voters within the MNO Regions 4,5,8 and 9 will be receiving personalized voter information to access the polls and to cast their ballots during the voting period. E-voting will commence on August 22, 2016 at 9:00 am (ET) and will close on August 26, 2016 at 5:00 pm (ET). Election results will be available immediately following the close of elections and expected to be announced at the AGA.

To be nominated candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 16 and 25 years on date of election;
  • Obtain a minimum of four signatures of electors who are over the age of 16 but under the age of 30 as of the date of the election. Signatures must be from electors who reside in the region from which the candidate is nominated;
  • Nominations must include a statement that the candidate on the date of election will be between the ages of 16 and 25 years of age;
  • Must include a statement that the candidate on the date of election will be between the ages of 16 and 25 years of age.

NOMINATION DEADLINE: 5:00 PM ET, AUGUST 4, 2016

All verified candidates will be provided a platform to submit a photo along with an election statement. Details on this will be provided to all confirmed nominees.
