Remembering Theodore “Ted” Pile

It is with sadness that the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) heard of the passing of Theodore “Ted” Pile. Ted was the younger brother of long-time PCMNO Secretary-Treasurer Tim Pile.
A proud Métis citizen, Ted dedicated much of his career to environmental work, including time with the MNO’s Lands, Resources and Consultation. Ted was also a valuable member of the Greenstone Gold Mines team, performing daily checks, collecting data and carrying out special projects, like establishing bird houses along tailings roads. A naturalist at heart, Ted found great joy in the outdoors, whether working, fishing, or spending time at his home on Wildgoose Lake.
Ted was an active and committed Métis citizen. As a former Councillor with the Greenstone Métis Council, Ted was passionate about creating and maintaining connections. When working as an environmental tech with Greenstone Gold Mines, he devoted one day a week as a liaison for the MNO Region 2 Consultation Committee, ensuring that MNO leadership stayed informed about developments in the resource sector. Ted deeply valued the relationships he built, always striving to connect and collaborate.
“Ted frequently had two hats to wear and he did it well, including ensuring that Métis stewardship was being upheld and that the mine had the data it needed to run an effective Environmental Program,” says Tim Sinclair, PCMNO Councilor for Region 2. “He will be difficult to replace and deeply missed.”
Ted was known by all who knew him as an honest and caring individual, gifted with skills in environmental monitoring and a deep connection to the natural world. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and love for his family.
MNO extends its heartfelt condolences to Tim and the entire Pile family.
