It is with deep regret that the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) announces the passing of Ron Robinson on March 13, 2020. As President of the Northwest Metis Council, Dryden, Ron was devoted to his position and to the Métis citizens that he served.

Ron enjoyed meeting other Metis from other regions and made lasting friendships and incredible bonds. Ron was a true Métis with the great respect for Mother Earth. Ron enjoyed his camp, boating, blueberry picking and hunting, just to name just a few passions. Ron was respected by his colleagues from his community council and by the MNO Region One Consultation Committee.

Ron was extremely proud that he was a part of the signing with MNO-Canada Framework on Advancing Reconciliation with the Northwestern Ontario Metis Community in 2017.

He will be greatly missed by all.

“Dryden has always been home for us,” wrote Ron’s wife Jo Ann in Ron’s obituary.

“Ron loved the waters and the great outdoors, from windsailing; boat sailing, year-round fishing was his greatest joy.”

Ron volunteered at the MNO Northwest Métis Council, based out of Dryden, for many years. He served as Chair of the Council and later as President.

“He did his best to bring the community members together,” said Jo Ann. “He managed a positive circle of council members and had supportive guidance from neighboring councils of Kenora, Fort Frances and Atikokan.

A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
