The Métis Nation of Ontario is Thrilled to Participate in the 2025 Métis Nation Global Summit

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is proud to announce our participation in the Second Annual Métis Nation Global Summit, taking place from February 12-13, 2025, at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa. This landmark event is a vital gathering where Indigenous voices from across the world will help shape a future that harmonizes Indigenous Rights with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A Global Platform for Métis Leadership

The Métis Nation Global Summit is more than just a conference—it is a call to action for Indigenous leaders, scholars, and youth to engage in critical conversations that will define our collective future. This year’s event builds upon the success of last year’s inaugural summit, reinforcing the Métis Nation’s role in global advocacy, policy-making, and Indigenous-led solutions to sustainability and economic development.

As a leader in advancing Métis rights, governance, and cultural preservation, the MNO is excited to contribute to discussions on Indigenous knowledge, economic growth, climate adaptation, and education. Our delegates will bring forward perspectives that highlight the unique experiences of Métis citizens in Ontario and across the Métis Nation homeland.

MNO Voices Leading the Conversation

The MNO is honored to have several representatives participating as speakers and panelists at the Summit. Our leaders, scholars, and community advocates will play a significant role in sharing insights on key topics, including education, cultural preservation, economic development, and emergency management. The MNO will ensure that all perspectives are well represented in discussions that will impact global policy and Indigenous governance.

Advancing Métis Priorities on a Global Stage

The Summit aligns with the MNO’s ongoing commitment to protecting and promoting Métis culture, self-governance, and rights.

This year’s agenda covers a range of pressing topics, including:

  • Sustainable Economic Development – Exploring how Métis businesses and communities can drive growth while preserving our cultural and environmental heritage.
  • Education and Cultural Revitalization – Discussing the importance of culturally relevant education for Métis youth and the role of Indigenous knowledge in academic spaces.
  • Health and Well-being – Highlighting community-led approaches to Indigenous healthcare and the importance of Métis cultural identity in well-being strategies.

The MNO would like to extend its gratitude to all the panelists participating in these important discussions. The value of the perspectives from Indigenous peoples from across the world can’t be understated and is vital to our continued work of sustainability.
