A Place in the Circle:
Two-Spirit & LGBTQ+ Symposium
Saturday, February 26, 2022
The Métis Nation of Ontario Two-Spirit Working Group would like to invite all Ontario Métis to the second annual Two-Spirit & LGBTQ+ Symposium. This one-day, virtual, Two-Spirit Symposium will be packed with special guest speakers from all over the rainbow!
Framed through a 2SLGBTQ+ and Métis lens, the symposium “A Place in the Circle” will take place virtually from 9 AM – 4 PM EST via ZOOM and is open to all Métis Citizens. Attendees can benefit from the insight and perspective of a 2SLGBTQ community panel and will hear from Keynote speakers Lori Campbell and Charlotte Nolin. Lori Campbell will be speaking on Erasure and Resurgence of Two-Spirit Peoples and Charlotte Nolin will be speaking on culture as a part of keeping her well, roles within community now for Two-Spirit folks, and her own journey. Included in the symposium, will also be a cultural activity of Two-Spirit tobacco teachings and medicine bag making lead by Benny Michaud.
Creating spaces for queer identifying Citizens is a valuable asset, and for progress to be made within the community, the agendas of both the 2SLGBTQ community and the MNO must align. The MNO is thrilled be to working with the Two-Spirit community and looks forward to building relationships and capacity with the Two-Spirit Working Group. The voices of all of our Citizens are important and worth celebrating.
We hope you’ll take part in “A Place in the Circle” on Saturday, Feb 26th!
