From May 22 to 24, Sharon McBride, Provisional Council of the Métis Nation of Ontario (PCMNO) Vice-Chair and Spokesperson for the Women’s Secretariat of the Métis Nation of Ontario (WSMNO), attended the Women of the Métis Nation (WMN) National General Assembly in British-Columbia.

She was among fifty delegates representing all five Métis governments within the Métis Homelands.

The WMN discussed a variety of concerns, including child welfare, food security, missing and murdered Indigenous women.

Among the issues addressed during the Assembly were the pursuit of projects funding in a number of areas including economic development, violence against women, residential schools, Michif Language, health and wellness, traditional knowledge, housing and education.

McBride is also a Board Member of the WMN Board of Directors. The Board holds responsibility for the overall governance and accountability of the WMN.
