MNO News 29: President’s Message (February 2025)

Dear Citizens,

February 27, 2025 is Election Day in Ontario. Help us raise a strong Métis voice from now to Election Day, to ensure the Government of Ontario continues prioritizing the issues and policies that make life better for Métis citizens and communities in Ontario.

For over twenty years, the MNO and Government of Ontario have partnered to advance Métis rights, policies, and programs that benefit Métis across Ontario, strengthening the economic, social, and cultural fabric of the entire province in the process.

The MNO is working hard to make sure that all political parties and local candidates understand our Métis Priorities for the Next Ontario Government, and that we are strongest when we work together.

But we can’t do it alone—we need your help to make Métis priorities heard!

Our Métis Priorities for the Next Ontario Government

  1.  Improve healthcare access for Métis people, in both urban and rural communities.
  2. Create more economic opportunities for Métis businesses and Métis workers.
  3. Ensure all Métis families have access to safe and affordable housing.
  4. Strengthen the financial resiliency of Métis families, including Elders and caregivers.
  5. Educate all Ontarians about Métis history and rights, by sharing Ontario Métis Facts.

How You Can Help Raise Our Métis Voice

Together, we can have a strong Métis voice! Here’s how you can help us raise it:

  1. Ask local candidates about how they will address our Métis Priorities for the Next Ontario Government.
  2. Attend local debates and ask questions about our Métis Priorities for the Next Ontario Government.
  3. Use social media to raise awareness about Ontario Métis Facts and encourage candidates to commit to our Métis Priorities for the Next Ontario Government.
  4. Connect with and attend your local MNO Community Council’s events, and stay informed on key election updates.

This election is a chance to make our Métis voices heard. Let’s stand together to ensure that Ontario’s leaders commit to supporting Métis citizens now and into the future!
