About the Program
The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is now in the second year of the Health Resources Project.
Managed by the Healing and Wellness Branch, this project is designed to provide verified Métis Citizens with improved access to supplemental health supports.

Program Details
- Application Process: Applications may be submitted as needed by each citizen throughout the fiscal year (April 1 – March 31). Submissions must include all required documentation, including income statements that meet the minimum requirements outlined in the Health Resources application and FAQ page.
- Time Period & Benefit Amount:April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027, with funding support of up to $1,250 per eligible verified MNO citizen, pending funding. *
- Payment Process: Approved funds will be issued by the MNO Finance Branch via direct deposit within approximately 45 days of processing. Direct deposit information should be provided at the time of initial application.
Eligible Medical Expenses may include:
Dental care, hearing care, vision care, health testing fees (e.g., lab tests or diagnostics), registered health professional, medications, vaccines, and assistive devices.
Accessing the Support
To access funding through the Health Resources Project, applicants must:
- Complete and submit the application, including the MNO Citizens verification declaration
- Submit a quote or receipt for the approved service(s) or item(s)
- Provide direct deposit information to receive reimbursement
- Provide proof of annual net income for all family members aged 18 and over (excluding those aged 18–29 who are currently attending school), such as a Notice of Assessment from the previous tax year.
- Provide proof of enrollment for those aged 18-29 who are currently attending school
- Provide proof exhausted benefits (e.g., a statement of remaining coverage from an insurance provider for the requested service or item)
- Expected timeline: Application processing timelines vary based on file complexity and completeness. To support swift processing times, please ensure to provide a fulsome and complete application with all relevant documentation.

The Health Resources Project is intended to assist Verified Métis Citizens with access to health-
related needs by assisting with the expenses related to these needs.
“Family Unit” can be an individual adult/family who may live in a shared household but does not receive financial support from those they live with.
Eligible monthly net income includes all family members living at home over the age of 18 – with
the exception of those ages 18-29 currently enrolled in school.
Pending funding, each Verified Métis Citizen is eligible for up to $1,250 in health resources up until March 31st, 2027, at which point this amount is subject to change. It is important to note that reimbursement of funds can take up to 45 business days from the date of approval.

This project is intended to support Verified Métis Citizens with medical needs who are unable to meet these needs due to financial barriers.
This means that while you may have medical benefits through your
spouse/partner/employer/parents, you are unable to cover the full cost of the required medical item and/or service.
• Example: Insurance covers $200 of $450 glasses, MNO may provide funds for remaining $250)
Following the completion and submission of the Health Resources Project application, the amount provided will be subject to the request. If the full sum of $1,250.00 is needed for the item/service, and approved, the full sum amount would be provided.
Citizens are free to divide the $1,250.00 as needed, within the same fiscal year and will need to submit the new receipt(s), along with any relevant new banking or household information, in order to be granted remaining yearly available funds.
Citizens who have been approved and received supports in a past fiscal year, will need to provide the Returning Applicant Document, along with their initial request.
The funding is intended for the needs of Verified Métis Citizens only. The application must be completed by the Verified Métis Citizen who intends to receive the service or health related item.
The receipt provided must include the name and details for the applying Métis Citizen.
If the household has 2 or more Verified Métis Citizens, each Citizen would need to submit their own application.
This funding is designated for health-related needs including but not limited to: Hearing Care, Dental Care, Vision Care, Diagnostic Testing and/or lab results, Medications,Vaccines, and Assistive Devices.
