PCMNO Provincial Secretaries

In 2024, the PCMNO has implemented Provincial Secretaries roles as outline in Article 15 of the MNO Secretariat Bylaws. To view the resolutions appointing the Provincial Secretaries please click here.

The secretary’s duties are as follows:

Provincial Secretaries Appointment and Roles

• Appointment: The president can appoint Provincial Secretaries from the PCMNO, and the PCMNO must approve these appointments.
• Reporting: Provincial Secretaries report to the president.
• Responsibilities: They lead their assigned areas, support MNO management, and represent their portfolios to MNO management, citizens, and outside agencies.
• Authority: They have the power to make political decisions related to their portfolios as outlined in their mandate letter from the president. This letter is made public.

Adherence to Guidelines

• Provincial Secretaries must follow MNO Bylaws, Community Council Charter Agreements, and Regional Consultation Protocols.

Multiple Appointments

• If a portfolio has many responsibilities, two Provincial Secretaries can be appointed to share the workload. They will work together and divide tasks to manage the portfolio efficiently.

Reporting and Support

• Provincial Secretaries provide regular reports on their activities and progress, seeking necessary decisions from the PCMNO. They meet with the president as needed to fulfill these reporting requirements.
• They receive support from the Chief of Staff to the Provincial Secretaries, MNO senior management staff, and/or external legal counsel.
• When necessary, Associate Secretaries will also be appointed
