Métis Tales is an internal team of Métis Nation of Ontario early years professionals that annually develops and publishes early learning books exploring developmental themes through a Métis lens.
The Métis Nation of Ontario’s Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) team develops books and print materials for children aged 0-12 to support early learning through a Métis lens. Métis Tales is comprised of ELCC early years sector professionals who work together to develop, write, illustrate, publish, and print new titles every year. Every book published by Métis Tales is now printed in both English and French language options.

Annual Métis Christmas Book
Our annual Métis Christmas book series is written by Métis Tales and illustrated by Métis Nation of Ontario children from across the province.
Real Life Métis Superhero Series Nominations:
We call on Métis Nation of Ontario citizens to nominate a Métis citizen who they feel is a Métis superhero. The Métis Tales team reviews superhero nominations for consideration for upcoming publications.
Please see below for the criteria for both the nominator and the nominee:
- The nominee must be Métis; however, they do not need to be a Métis Nation of Ontario citizen. The nominee can include, but is not limited to, a Métis superhero from before the establishment of the MNO, a Métis superhero from the Métis Nation of Ontario, or any governing bodies recognized by the Métis National Council.
- The nominator must be a Métis Nation of Ontario citizen eligible for direct benefits. Proof of Métis Nation of Ontario citizenship will be required for the nominator but will not be required for the nominee.
- The nominee and the nominator must be at least 18, or parental consent will be required if selected for the youth nominee category.
- The successful nominee may be featured in a Métis Tales book that will be distributed at MétisTales’ discretion.
